Add Migrate From VitePress Page

About this idea

Currently, the Astro.js docs feature 14 guides on migration. I found that despite having migration guides on Docsaurus and VuePress, the Astro documentation lacks migration guides on some of the other popular libraries.
And I think VitePress should be added to this list.

This is my first time opening a feature request on docs so it might be misleading but I think this change will improve the quality of the documentation.

Hi, and thanks for the suggestion! Normally new guides are written when someone with experience with the other framework can at least get started with some basic familiarity in comparing and contrasting the two frameworks.

Most of the pages have a basic structure to follow (only Gatsby, Next, and Nuxt are extensive guides at the moment). So if anyone is willing to follow the pattern and write something comparable for VitePress, we would accept it! I do think VuePress is now considered older, and VitePress is the successor, so having the more modern framework there would indeed be helpful.

And, all of these guides were written before Starlight existed. So if someone quite familiar with VitePress wanted to write specifically a migration guide to Starlight, and could provide more specific guidance re: updating components etc. the way our Gatsby/Next/Nuxt guides do, I think that would be a welcome addition to the list.

It is a different repository, so I can't discuss it too much here, but maybe the migration guides can be created on the official Starlight docs. Would it still be useful to have a migration guide from Vitipress in the official Astro.js docs? If it is, then I will work on a PR that creates the page.

Hi, I think yes a VitePress migration page in the style of the Docusaurus page (which also recommends using the Starlight template) would still be welcome!

I'm glad to hear that I can add a Vitepress page, but I was wondering where I should create this page. Should I create it on one of the two(official and starlight) docs, or should I make the same page for both documentations?

I think starting in the Astro Docs makes sense as we don’t currently have anything set up in Starlight for migration guides. We can always use the Astro docs version for reference when we have time to work on Starlight migration guides.
