Thanks for the report. This was caused by image requests being made without the same default request headers used by the extractor.

Video thumbnails and comment avatars are loaded through Coil using the shared 'DownloaderImpl' OkHttp client. The extractor path added the desktop Firefox 'User-Agent' when building extractor requests, but Coil image loads reused the client directly and could therefore fetch thumbnails/avatars without that header.

I pushed a fix here:

The fix adds a default OkHttp interceptor in 'DownloaderImpl' so requests without an explicit 'User-Agent' automatically receive the app’s standard desktop Firefox User-Agent.

Please update to the latest APK and retest. I’ll close this once confirmed fixed.

Fixed issue with search and comment avatars, but not with the video thumbnails.

Thanks for the follow-up reports.

This should now be fixed in the latest build. The original image-loading issue was fixed first for search results and comment avatars, and the remaining cases were addressed afterward:

• video thumbnails/posters now have a YouTube thumbnail fallback when the extractor does not provide a usable thumbnail URL
• related/next video items now use a more robust YouTube related-items fallback
• channel/avatar edge cases, including examples like “Zanzara Republic,” should now load correctly

Please update to the latest APK and test again. I’m marking this as fixed from my side, but feel free to reopen/comment if any thumbnail or avatar is still missing with the latest build.
