The admin backend allows you to use the same coupon code for different coupons yet when the user enters it the plugin only checks the first coupon to see if it meets the conditions of the cart.

I've just submitted a pull request (#1114) which makes it so that the plugin will keep trying coupons with the same code until it finds one that works.

I'm not sure I actually agree with this...I think, generally, coupon codes should be uniquely represented. Can you present a proper use case for this?

I also assumed that a coupon code should always be unique.

However, thinking about it there is a possible scenario where you might want to do this.
Say you had a coupon code "SUMMERSALE" which you were promoting.

You might want this to discount basket 20% if you spend less than £100 or discount 30% if you spend over £300. For this you would need to set up two coupons of the same name with different rules.

A coupon should never 'apply' 2 sets of rules so it should just return the first code which matches the required parameters.

Our usage for this is that our client has promoters that have a unique code that they give out when promoting our client's site. The codes will give different discounts on different orders, but the code needs to be the same so that they can share one code that we can use to track the promoter's sales etc.

@benhuson's usage is another example of why it is useful. There are probably a bunch of other usage examples as well that one could think up.

This could always be hid behind an option that would allow users to decide if it works this way or not. But in reality, I don't think the codes should be unique.

Also another use case...

We current only have the option for single used coupons, not n use coupons, so if you wanted to create a coupon that could only be used 3 times, you would have to create 3 single use codes.

This would better be addressed by allowing admin to specific how many times a coupon can be used - a separate issue?
