Custom column background color not seen on frontend.

I am actually using Gridd here: https://wpdocs.easywebdesigntutorials.com/
As a dev site to begin thinking about restructuring the support pages.

I added a Group block. Then columns inside the group.
Then added a custom background color to the Columns block. This was not seen on the frontend.
But adding a background color to the Group block that showed the background color on the frontend.
