Support jdk21 compilation and jdk25 runtime support

Current Limitation

Currently, MI is compiled with jdk11 which has gone EOL and many of our dependencies have started to drop support for it.

Suggested Improvement

This task is targeted to make MI 5.0.0 compilable in JDK 21 and provide runtime support for JDK 25.

The following repositories need to be migrated to JDK21.

• wso2-axis2
• wso2-axis2-transports
• wso2-synapse
• carbon-mediation
• micro-integrator
• wso2-vfs-commons

Task breakdown:

• Migrating WSO2 dependencies to JDK 21 - 3 weeks (The major task in the above repositories is to remove the usage of powermockito dependencies for unit tests. We need to migrate the tests to Mockito to avoid using reflection,s which is blocked in later JDK versions.)
• Check third-party dependencies and update them. - 0.5 week
• Migrating connectors / inbound endpoints to JDK 21 - 1.5 weeks
• Testing, Documentation, and Migration guide - 1 week

Update

Completed the JDK 21 migration for wso2-synapse[1]. As part of the effort, the following changes have been made.

• Migrated Unit tests from PowerMockito to Mockito
• NashornJS related implementation are removed.
• ScriptMediator tests related to Ruby language have been commented.
• Since jaxb-api dependency is outdated, jakarta.xml.bind-api dependency is used instead.
• Jacoco agent dependency was updated from 0.8.6 to 0.8.12.
• Maven war plugin version was increased from 2.6 to 3.5.0
• Glassfish jersey dependency used in unit test was updated from 2.35 to 2.41.
• Due Mockito limitations, two test case files (RequestResponseTest.java & NHttpTransportListenerTest.java) have been removed.

Update

• Currently trying to build the Micro Integrator repo with JDK21.
  • The components are getting compiled successfully now, but the P2 profile generation is failing with multiple errors.
  • Modified carbon-p2-plugin, and locally created new orbit bundles to fix certain issues.
  • Since most of the equinox plugins are old, the p2 generation fails with certain packages missing.
  • Trying to figure out the missing packages and fixing it one at a time.

Update

• Currently, the compilation is successful after upgrading and adding multiple OSGI dependencies and editing the annotations in osgi services. arunans23@8b752a1
• But still there are some errors when starting the server. Currently trying to successfully start the server.
