Like many of you, I have been experiencing issues with Kap on macOS recording timeouts, app hangs on quit, permission crashes, and more. With 30+ open issues and no releases since October 2022, I understand the Kap team is busy with other things.
I have created https://github.com/MuntasirMalek/NewKap a community-driven fork (like Neovim is to Vim) with all the critical Sonoma/Sequoia bugs fixed.
- Recording timeout increased from 5s to 30s with automatic retry
- App quit and startup hangs fixed
- Screen capture permission crashes on Sonoma resolved
- Audio device issues with graceful fallback
- And more
NewKap is community- PRs get merged via community voting (3+ approvals), and active contributors can become maintainers. The goal is that even if any single maintainer is unavailable, the community can keep the app alive.governed

If the Kap team would like to merge these fixes upstream instead, I am happy to open a PR to this repo too.
