Why Node.js 23 instead of LTS version in .nvmrc?

I noticed .nvmrc specifies Node.js 23, which is not an LTS version. Node.js 22 is the current LTS release.

Is there a specific requirement for v23, or would Node.js 22 LTS work for development? This would make it easier for contributors who prefer stable versions.

Currently using v22 - can I contribute effectively without switching to v23?

Just a quick note on Node.js versioning:

• Even versions (18, 20, 22) = LTS (stable, production-ready)
• Odd versions (19, 21, 23) = Current releases (latest features, not LTS)

Node.js 22 is LTS since October 2024, while v23 will never become LTS.

For open source projects, LTS versions are generally preferred for stability and contributor ease. Unless you need specific v23 features, switching to v22 would align with best practices.
