[Patch Request] - Splinter Cell: Double Agent no rewards patch #449

Description

@TGP482

In Splinter Cell: Double Agent, several unlockable rewards replace core gameplay systems instead of simply adding new equipment. Once unlocked, these changes are permanent on that save and cannot be reverted.

These rewards are unlocked by completing STAR marked objectives during the campaign. Many of them are obtained through normal play, even if the player does not want the modified behavior. There is currently no way to turn them off.

  • Electronic Lock Pick removes the lock-picking minigame
  • Enhanced Night Vision replaces the original green NVG with a clear filter
  • Improved hacking makes the hacking minigame feel pointless, since it effectively auto-completes after a few seconds once a single section is solved.

In the PC version, equipment is read from Maps\<MapName>.ini on a per-map basis. The Xbox 360 version contains the same configuration files, but they appear to be bypassed at runtime.

Each difficulty has its own section for assigned equipment and rewards:

  • Easy - [Echelon.EMissionManager_Easy]
  • Normal - [Echelon.EMissionManager]
  • Hard - [Echelon.EMissionManager_Hard]

These settings determine which reward upgrades are applied:

bEnhanceNightVision=true

AttachShotgun=1			//Activate shotgun attachment launcher (1/0)
AmmoClipShotgun=8		//clips shotgun Attachment (Ammo x1)

bIsHandGunImproved=True		//Activate improved handgun (true/false)
UltraSonicEmitter=1		//Activate ultasonic emitter (1/0)

nFragGrenadeAttach=2		//Attachment (Ammo x1)
nSmokeGrenadeAttach=3		//Attachment (Ammo x1)
nGasGrenade=3			//Throw (Ammo x1)
GazGrenade=3			//Attachment (Ammo x1)
EMPGrenade=3			//Throw (Ammo x1)
nEMPGrenadeAttach=3		//Attachment (Ammo x1)
nSonicGrenadeAttach=3		//Attachment (Ammo x1)

nWallMineFlash=3		//Wallmine (Ammo x1)
nWallMineGas=3			//Wallmine (Ammo x1)

CanUseStickCamerav2=true	//Activate Sticky camera v2 - Explosive (true/false)
CanUseForcedHack=true		//Activate Hacking tool v3 - Force hacking (true/false)
CanUseImprovedHack=true		//Activate Hacking tool v2 - Improved (true/false)
CanUseElectronicLockPick=true	//Activate Lockpick tool v2 - Electronic (true/false)

We would like these specific reward upgrades to be toggleable, since they replace the original inventory behavior instead of simply adding new equipment: CanUseElectronicLockPick, bEnhancedNightVision, bIsHandGunImproved, CanUseForcedHack, CanUseImprovedHack, and CanUseStickCamerav2.

The goal is not to unlock them earlier, but to provide a way to force these upgrades off so players can choose between the original mechanics and the reward variants.
