This repository contains the input files, plugins, postprocessing script,
and the aspect source code (version 2.6.0-pre) used in:
Intraplate volcanism driven by slab-plume interaction:
Numerical modeling and its application to the Eifel, Massif Central and Hainan volcanic areas
Yingying Li, Bernhard Steinberger, Sascha Brune, Eline Le Breton, Anne Glerum, Michaël Pons
JGR:Solid Earth, 2025
1. Input files:
The reference models and models without subduction are placed in two folders.
The other input files are divided by slab geometries.
Names of prm files are given by their key parameters following the format:
[Slab geometry][TBL heating time]-T[TBL excessive temperature]
RB referes to slab rollback, RO slab rollover, IN slab with intermediate geometry.
2. Plugins:
The plugins include four source codes and their hearders.
-subduction_plate_cooling provides the initial temperature condition.
The other three are postprocessors:
-trench_location calculates the trench location over time.
-isotherm_depth computes the deepest depth of a given isotherm.
-composition_trms_statistics sums the root mean square
velocities of the selected compostional fileds.
3. Postprocessing script
The Postprocessing_script folder includes:
-The script used to calculate and plot plume buoyancy flux over time.
-The input files containing data such as upwelling velocity, temperature,
and density at a depth of 300 km for model R1 at different timesteps.
We provide only the data for model R1 here as an example.
-The Model_time.csv file containing the model time corresponding to each output timestep.
4. Modified ASPECT:
The modified version of ASPECT (version 2.6.0-pre, commit ca24c3a, dealii 9.4.0)
mainly includes updates for the cookbook kinematically_driven_subduction_2d,
otherwise similar to ASPECT main.
