Purpose of Language Setting #2284

Different languages have different parsers and deconjugation rules set up for them. Not all languages are as fully featured and not all languages even need these features. The language attribute in Yomitan's popup is also set by this which is necessary for correct font settings in some languages. For example, if you were to try loading a chinese dictionary and scanning chinese while the language is set to japanese, you might notice no issues at all in the scanning capabilities but your font might be messed up. Or if you try scanning japanese while english is selected you might notice certain conjugated words dont scan properly such as 分かります wouldn't get pulled back to the basic dictionary form of 分かる. |

Dear Yomitan!
I really enjoy Yomitan and I think it is really great for language learning!
Whilst using it, I came across a question, that maybe someone knows:
I use Yomitan with multiple languages and in the "Yomitan Settings/General" I can configure the language. I also have to enable an apppropriate dictionary for the language I want to look up words in.
So my question is, what is the real purpose of the language setting under "General"? Is this setting used in any way?
From my experience, the more important setting is to enable the correct dictionary for the language of the web page. Or is it also important to have the correct language set under "General"?
Thanks for any hint.
Best regards,
-Thomas
