@zedeus: hey, thanks for that recommendation. It's available in the Firefox store I see, so that's good... but has to be a manual-install for Chromium browsers, which then means having remember to manually-update it in future too, I'd guess? Plus, I was hoping to find an extension that only does redirecting of Twitter and X links to Nitter, and that's all, so it would only need limited permissions. I see LibRedirect needs access to "data for all web sites", not just for the Twitter and X domains, as per my current extensions: So, one for me to consider, but ideally I'd prefer an extension with a more-limited scope, if anyone knows one? |

I've been using this greasemonkey/tampermonkey script for quite sometime. It's not the best, as it only works in-browser... so you have to get creative and modify xdg-open urls (basically a wrapper) if you click on links outside of the browser. Libredirect is more what I'm looking for personally, and it works much better on my mobile device, so thanks for that recommendation. |

Hi all
Just-wondering which browser-extensions people recommend to re-direct twitter.com or x.com links to a Nitter server?
In Firefox, I use one called X Cancelled (Nitter), which generally works well -- except that xcancel.com is the only instance it supports, and the site is currently-down. And as the extension provides no-way to change the instance to any-other server, makes it about as useful as a chocolate-teapot then!
In Chromium-browsers, such as Brave and Edge, I use Nitter Redirect, however it hasn't been updated since July 2020 and doesn't support x.com links, only twitter.com ones, and lately it cannot open images on X reliably, so you have to right-click and use "Open in Private Tab" to open them from X directly, bypassing the extension. (Plus, as it's Manifest v2, it'll stop-working soon anyway.)
Are there any newer ones people know of that (1) work reliably and (2) let you change the Nitter instance when needed?
Thanks
