reddit comments can't be seen

What happened?

reddit comments load forever. they don't work basically. I checked with FireFox and without any mods or addons

Cannot reproduce while testing in a clean profile (on Win 11). Knowing Reddit's popularity I don't imagine this is a Zen issue or there would've been many more reports. It's more likely an issue local to your installation.

Please try if clearing the site cookies and caches fixes things:

(While on the Reddit tab click on the lock in the URL bar and then 'Clear cookies and site data`)

If this does not fix the issue, try if a clean profile has the same issue. Go to about:profiles and create a new profile. Don't forget to set your current profile (back) to default.
Now launch the profile you just created in a new browser (right-most option below the profile info) and test if you still see the issue.

Closing this since I can't replicate in a new profile on release (1.11.1b) nor in twilight (1.11.2t).
Please let us know if this still happens after cleaning site data (caches) / in a clean profile and we'll reopen.

I also have this situation, and like OP it's on MacOS, but arm64, not Intel.
FF works, Safari Works, Chrome Works. All extensions disabled, tried Private Mode, I've tried clearing the site data. No console errors at any point. It affects anything beyond the first html load of reddit. I haven't noticed this on any other sites

Restarting the browser allows it to work for a few minutes but then it always returns. I've updated 3+ zen versions since this started.

Okay so clearing site cookies and data doesn't work. restarting the browser doesnt work. disabling addons doesnt work. using this profile's incognito doesn't work. turning off all mods doesnt work.

this issue is persistent please reopen. sorry i moved back to firefox due to a number of reasons and i also have exams so i dint have the time to come back

Ok, re-opening. Still can't replicate on my end and see so few reports that I don't expect it's a Zen issue though.

Have you tried a new profile yet? (about:profiles allows creating and managing profiles, take note of the profile that is set as default so you can return to it after testing)

A possible culprit could be extensions like Reddit UI tweaks, adblockers, privacy, etc.(but @mhov mentioned it happens with all extensions disabled...) It could also be something like a firewall blocking UDP traffic to/from Zen.
