Zen is being updated by another instance

• I have checked that this issue can be reproduced once I removed all my Mods and Custom CSS.

What happened?

I have the tarball version of Zen installed, specifically the 1.11.1b, but now that I want to upgrade to the newer release the embedded update functionality in About Zen just doesn't work, it's been stuck in "Zen is being updated by another instance" since day 1

I just have 1 Mod and no Custom CSS

I think it refers that the user is the another instance when Zen is installed or updated manually by the tarball.

But in the #-installation section of the README it says that the user have to use the update functionality in About Zen to upgrade the browser

I could never update the browser installed by tarball like you say. I always have to download and extract the .tar.xz file.

I think the README is not clearer.

I did just what you said and it works, but i'm on the same train that the README should be clearer, or if that function is supposed to work, fix it
