Cannot play DRM content (Specifcally crunchyroll.com) on Linux since 1.11.3b

What happened?

Yesterday I've updated Zen Browser to the latest version 1.11.3b after a long time of not updating it.
And since then I've been unable to watch Crunchyroll DRM content, I don't have any other streaming platform I can also check.

I'm running Zen on Nixos, as such I don't update frequently, so I didn't test it on previous versions.

Interesting, I know that Zen Browser can't play DRM content, the FAQ has more information about it. I think that's not the case for builds in Linux, maybe Widevine extension is disabled ?

It's not, at least before 1.11.3b I never had an issue with DRM content.
How can I re-enable the Widevine extension ?

@BelgianDev Go about:addons > Plugins > Click on the ... to the right of Widevine Content Decryption Module and select Always Activate.

You can also check about:support and search for media.gmp-widevinecdm.version which should be 4.10.2891.0 (on Linux build) and you should see com.widevine.alpha under Content Decryption Modules Information section.

The plugin is already on Always Activate. And all of these info match.
But still no Crunchyrolll DRM content can be played.

Maybe the issue lays somewhere else and it's not related to DRM content ?
The error code is always 'DRM-0' on crunchyroll, I've looked it up and it sends me to DRM related issues so I figured it must be a DRM issue with Zen

Do you know of a site that allows to test browser for DRM content so I can be sure it's actually a DRM content issue ?

@BelgianDev Interesting, because when I explicitly disable Widevine and watch something on Crunchyroll I get the same issue with Code: DRM-0, but works fine when I enable that plugin. I'm also on Linux running the .appimage, same version as you 1.11.3b.

Is it maybe related to the nix package I use ?
Is there a way for me to send you logs or the options I use ? It may help track down the issue

The video loads forever, and up in the URL bar I can see the little DRM chain icon shaking but the video still doesn't load

Hmm, that's not right, an error message like "The DRM configuration is not supported by this platform." should be thrown.
If you open the web-dev tools console (F12), do you see any errors like: VIDEOJS: ERROR: (CODE:5 MEDIA_ERR_ENCRYPTED) The DRM configuration is not supported by this platform. ?

I would try creating a new profile from about:profiles and switch to it. Just don't forget which profile you're currently on, so you remember to switch back to it. The next thing I would test would be running the browser using other distribution methods, like an .appimage or flatpak, see if that's any different.
