[GUI BUG] Lookup via ORCID when adding an author doesn't work with full ORCID IRI #1320
Description
Current GUI behaviour:
When I add a new author to a publication and use the ORCID field for the lookup of the author details, I am forced to only use the suffix of the ID, e.g. 0000-0002-1595-3213 of my full ORCID https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1595-3213.
Expected GUI behaviour
When I add a new author to a publication and use the ORCID field for the lookup of the author details, I can either:
- use the suffix of an ORCID, e.g.
0000-0002-1595-3213--> the current default - or, also use the full ORCID IRI, e.g. https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1595-3213
Rationale
I consider this a usability bug, because I (and I hope many others do the same) usually copy and paste ORCIDs to avoid errors by using the general feature of different source systems to copy the complete ORCID link of a person. The current Zenodo GUI forces me to manually delete the ORCID prefix when pasting into the Zenodo ORCID lookup field to retrieve the author information automatically.
