Integrations with Categories

Web_Links seems to require that one create a new and unrelated set of categories, rather than allowing the user to select a set of categories from the Category module.
analysis

I would like to be able to set up a collection of categories, likely as a list in PageMaster?, and then use that same set of Categories for multiple modules. Saves work and creates some organization.
enhancement recommendation

Allow user to select a category schema that is already set in the Categories module.
