Yes, this is a valid issue which has surfaced during our team's testing of the application. Currently we are sourcing our prerequisite information from NUSMods. From the data we got from their database, the prerequisite CS1010 or its equivalent is being represented as a single module CS1010. We have considered modifying the JSON file storing these prerequisites to contain CS1101S as well. However, this requires a lot of effort, as there are many other modules which have this same issue. In addition, this is not a sustainable solution as this process of updating the JSON file would have to be done every semester, unless NUSMods updates the prerequisites on their side. This is why we'll only show a warning message and not disallow the user from adding the module altogether.

So our team's current fix for this issue is simply to remove the suffix of the module (which assumes that a module with the same module code and an extra suffix is an equivalent module), which means that modules like CS1010J, CS1010E and CS1010S will be accepted, but modules such as CS1101S with a completely different module code will cause the warning message to be raised. Nevertheless, this is something that can be improved in future versions of the application.
