Multi user - using a token at tool use time?

Hi,

Just found this project, I want to use MCP (Streamable HTTP) in my app and I already have authenticated users.

I saw the example of how to start a server with a token, is there a recommended way of doing it per user? Do we need initiate a server connection per user or can we somehow pass our access token during tool use?

Secondly, I didn't see an actual integration example -- are there recommended projects to look at that pass the tools all the way down to the LLM client?

do you mean passing http headers for the transport layer? if yes I recommend only a single transport/connection per server. you can also pass additional http headers when calling a tool so you can pass bearer tokens for each user

what do you mean exactly by "pass the tools all the way down to the LLM"? MCP defined the "capabilities" idea, so your server can expose tools or not. by default all server tools are listed for the LLM, with pagination included but you can easily implement authorization/different tools visitibilities using tool annotations from the latest MCP spec by yourself
