Nexus

AI-Powered Startup–Investor Matchmaking Platform

Overview

Nexus is a data-driven matchmaking platform designed to intelligently connect startups and investors using structured compatibility scoring.

The platform replaces inefficient, network-driven discovery methods with algorithmic alignment based on industry, funding stage, and capital requirements.

This project was developed as a hackathon prototype to demonstrate how technology can reduce friction in capital allocation and improve the quality of startup-investor connections.

Problem Statement

Startup-investor discovery today is:

  • Manual and network dependent

Startups often rely on cold outreach without knowing investor alignment.
Investors receive unfiltered deal flow without compatibility ranking.

Nexus solves this gap using structured data and weighted scoring to enable intelligent matchmaking.

Application Flow

  1. User selects role (Startup or Investor).
  2. User submits structured profile data.
  3. Startup is redirected to ranked investor matches.
  4. Compatibility score is calculated using weighted logic.
  5. Investors can explore aligned startup profiles.

Match Scoring Logic

Example scoring structure:

  • Funding and capability: 40 points
  • Industry: 30 points
  • Stage alignment: 20
  • Location: 10

Total possible score: 100

Investors are sorted in descending order to show highest alignment first.

This scoring model can be extended in future versions using machine learning or behavioral analytics.

Revenue Model

Nexus follows a hybrid monetization strategy combining subscription-based access, transaction fees, and ecosystem partnerships.

1. Freemium Model

Free Tier (Basic Access)

Users can:

  • Create profile
  • View limited matches (e.g., 3 per day)
  • Access basic compatibility score

This allows users to experience the platform before upgrading.

Premium Tier (Startup Plan)

Premium startups receive:

  • Unlimited match access
  • Advanced AI-powered compatibility scoring (Gemini integration)
  • Detailed match explanations
  • Direct access to investor contact details
  • Increased visibility in search results

Premium Tier (Investor Plan)

Premium investors receive:

  • Unlimited startup discovery

2. Success-Based Facilitation Fee

Nexus may charge a 1–2% facilitation fee on successfully closed funding deals through the platform.

This ensures:

3. Sponsored Ecosystem Partnerships

Contextual sponsorships may be integrated within the platform, including:

This does not influence the core compatibility ranking algorithm.

Project Structure

Installation and Setup

1. Clone the repository

git clone <repository-url>
