I'm Sonia - a Junior Software Developer based in Birmingham, working at GDS.

I started working out in marketing, somehow ended up in the civil service, and then fell into software development... and honestly, I haven't looked back. I really enjoy building things in the public sector that are useful, accessible and actually help people.

I've recently come back from maternity leave, so life right now is a mix of Ruby, Rails, nappies, toddler tantrums and very broken sleep 👶🫩

I'm currently learning the ropes into Ruby and Ruby on Rails, aiming to become a solid developer - learning loads, asking lots of questions, and learn how to write clean, readable and documented code. I know I'll bnever stop learning, and that's why I love doing my job (I'm always challenged).

I did a Web Development Bootcamp at Le Wagon in June 2023 - the highlight was Anime Trek - a project where we mixed a love of anime with a product that lets users discover shows, build watchlists, write reviews and a side of gamification by earning points. Basically: anime + coding = happiness ✨

So that's me in a nutshell... still learning, still curious, and trying to code in a world full of toddler mayhem 🐛
