Not everyone necessarily has their clones set up the same way I do, so
it is somewhat hostile to have the tarball path be in a directory that
may end up in an unfortunate place
If you still want to use the external tarballs path, you are advised
to run
./autogen.sh $AUTOGEN_FLAGS --with-external-tar=../../core-tarballs
at the appropriate point in the instructions
In a similar vein to the tarballs path, people may not have their core structured in the same way as me. It's nice if we can make it a bit more generic by pushing the responsibility of saying the right path onto the user there
You can't use pre-built cores on NixOS but this isn't necessarily obvious from the outset. Let's document it so it's crystal clear
