docs: tone pass — root thermite-2 design docs + complete the standard - #10
Merged
Conversation
This section (antithesis pairs, virtue adverbs, em-dash drama, rhetorical bold, cute asides) was authored during the README hard pass but missed the commit that landed the standard in #9. Lands it so the standard on main is complete. Issue: #287 Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Per .design/tone-and-voice.md (#287). Mechanical phrase-level removal of
"honestly" used as a virtue-adverb ("the certificate honestly says" -> "says",
"stated honestly" -> "stated", "Skipped honestly" -> "Skipped", etc.) across
~12 .design docs; "honestly" count 53 -> 35 (remaining forms need per-instance
judgment). Verified: every removed line contained only the adverb; no claim,
status label, or identifier changed.

…batch 1)" This reverts commit 8697b8a.
Per .design/tone-and-voice.md (#287). The root .design thermite-2 docs (contributed this phase) get the tone treatment; the .design subdir docs are left as historical development artifacts (per owner direction). - removed intensifier "exactly" (which is exactly why -> which is why; exactly as before/today -> as before/today; validate exactly that -> validate that). - removed "deliberately" as intensifier (broken lift, narrow grammar, do not do, carries, last-staged). - m0-spikes: dropped "the plan analysis's most material correction" and "the asymmetry is safe" framing; kept the engineering rationale. - "fallback F-F's whole ladder" -> "ladder"; "specified honestly" -> "specified". Substance, REQs/ACs, identifiers unchanged. Issue: #287 Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Slice 2 of the tone pass (#287). Per owner direction, the
.design/subdir docs are left as historical development artifacts; only the root.design/thermite-2 docs (contributed this phase) get the tone treatment here. Net diff is prose-only — no REQ/AC, identifier, or structure changed.Changes
.design/tone-and-voice.md— adds the "Avoid the tics" section (antithesis pairs, virtue adverbs, em-dash drama, rhetorical bold, cute asides) that missed the commit landing the standard in docs: tone & voice pass — top-level docs (affirmative, plain register) #9..design/thermite2-program.md,m0-spikes.md,stage1/2/3— intensifiers ("exactly," "deliberately") and editorializing asides ("the plan analysis's most material correction," "the asymmetry is safe") removed; engineering content kept.Scope plan (agreed)
.design/subdir docs → untouched (historical artifacts).docs/reorg — a structured, external-facing, tone-controlled docs tree; move public content there; decouple public docs from.design/references.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
