[j4lte] KernelSU Support for Unlocked Device
oneui-kernelsu.img: For OneUI ROM (Samsung MTP enabled)aosp-kernelsu.img: For non-OneUI (pure AOSP-based) ROM (Samsung MTP disabled)
Actually, recent GSI has MTP working fine even with Samsung MTP driver enabled. But just to be sure.
Flash it to boot partition with TWRP, then install KernelSU by backslashxx: https://github.com/backslashxx/KernelSU
How?
backslashxx described method to use KernelSU on older kernel version, such as 3.18. Here's the guide if you want to achieve the same thing: backslashxx/KernelSU#20.
[j4lte] Customized Kernel for Unlocked Device
This release includes a modified Linux downstream kernel, with needed changes for unlocked device.
You could use this modified kernel if you wish to root your device, flash a Generic System Image (GSI), and run an unencrypted ROM.
The said changes include:
- Samsung securities disabled
- F2FS support
- Misc. source adjustment for recompile
Notes:
- Flashing with AnyKernel3 is not supported. The device goes panic into Download Mode, while flashing the full boot image works fine. Thus, this release provides an archived boot image that you could flash via flashing tools e.g. Odin.
- The boot image is based on stock J400FXXS9CVE4
