Description of changes

Changes for generating the TRENDY2025 fsurdat/landuse files.
I'm opening the PR to share my work and not because I expect us to merge to master or anywhere else.

Notes:

  • Used alpha-ctsm5.4.CMIP7 as the base, which is a little behind at the moment...
  • Branched from slevis-lmwg/mk_ctsm54_datasets, which is a little less behind than alpha-ctsm5.4.CMIP7.
  • For now this means more diffs appearing in the PR than are relevant to the PR, so I listed relevant commits in a separate post below.

Specific notes

CTSM Issues Fixed (include github issue #):
None that I know of.

Are answers expected to change (and if so in what way)?
Answers will differ because TRENDY2025 uses different pft raw datasets than ctsm5.3 and ctsm5.4.

Any User Interface Changes (namelist or namelist defaults changes)?
Changed namelist defaults.

Does this create a need to change or add documentation? Did you do so?
Unlikely.

Base is behind master causing diffs here that are irrelevant. Here's the list of relevant commits that will remain when we update base (listed from more to less recent):

One commit prior to that I merged ctsm5.3.063:

What's definition of done for this? TRENDY 2025 has been submitted.
Given @slevis-lmwg opened this PR without intending to merge this to master, can this issue just be closed?

@wwieder wwieder added the next this should get some attention in the next week or two. Normally each Thursday SE meeting. label Aug 29, 2025

I support closing this PR. We can still refer to it while closed, or even reopen if necessary.
