clarification: why is phmmer/jackhmmer better than blastp/psi-blast?

Hi,

Page 9 of the HMMER documentation states I believe phmmer is superior in many respects to BLASTP, and jackhmmer to PSI-BLAST.

I was wondering if the authors could clarify the reasoning for their argument.
