Release and support page for the original Xbox port of Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition
Download the v1.1.9b public test for version 1.2
Version 1.1.9b is a full public-test package, not a patch. Install it in a clean folder and do not merge an older release's System files or configuration into it.
The current download was rebuilt from the latest source and verified complete after a fresh extraction, including the matching Xbox configuration, bundled maps, mutators, game modes, and supporting files.
The v1.1.9b public test includes:
- Instant Action, Tournament, Split Screen, and experimental System Link
- Last Man Standing in Instant Action, Split Screen, and System Link
- All fourteen standard Unreal Tournament mutators, plus AgentX Arena and Akimbo Arena
- Fixed OldSkool Weapons minigun replacement and corrected its slow, low-pitched looping audio
- Automatic widescreen detection from the Xbox dashboard setting with a wider gameplay view
- Fixed texture, lighting, and UV corruption, including problems triggered by brightness, contrast, and gamma changes
- Reduced intermittent texture pop-in and gameplay hitches caused by premature texture-cache recycling
- Faster menu transitions without freezing the music or CityIntro for several seconds
- Fixed startup failures in CTF-Phalanx, CTF-Spirito, CTF-Stormfront, CTF-Sundial, DM-CanyonFear, DM-Halberd, DM-Hood, and DM-Pantheon
- Fixed the first Tournament match and verified progress advancement across all five ladders
- More reliable System Link joining, reconnecting, map travel, lobby return, and subsequent matches
- A version number in the bottom-right of the main-menu footer
Known limitations:
- System Link remains experimental while broader real-hardware testing continues
- The HUD and menus remain horizontally stretched in widescreen
- Safe Area Size currently scales the full picture instead of moving only the HUD
- Four-player widescreen and more HDMI and capture-device combinations need testing
- Co-op Tournament is not included and has been deferred until after version 1.2
- Full Unreal Tournament GOTY gameplay on original Xbox
- Tournament, Instant Action, Jailbreak III Gold, Split Screen, and System Link
- 39 converted PlayStation 2 and Dreamcast arena maps
- PlayStation 2 Character Pack 3.0 and Master Chief
- Per-player profiles for names, characters, team preference, controls, and Tournament progress
- Xbox-focused menus, controller presets, safe-area controls, video adjustment, and dashboard artwork

- Player and bot count
- Display and widescreen settings

Please upload ut99.log whenever possible. Use FTP to copy it from beside default.xbe on the Xbox to your PC. Open the GitHub issue editor, click inside the large description textbox, and drag ut99.log from File Explorer into that box. Wait for GitHub to insert the uploaded file link before submitting the issue.
- Console and community maps appear under their normal DM, CTF, DOM, and JB prefixes
