Summary

  • Aurora v1.1.5: Phase B soft recovery for residual/growing 4K decode backlog on LG C5
  • New Video setting Soft recovery (4K) (default on for webOS): when sustained backlog is detected, temporarily lower host bitrate (no Flush+IDR)
  • Always sample Starfish RQ / decoder latency even when the stats overlay is hidden
  • ABR supports async drop requests; recovery-only mode when Soft recovery is on without Adaptive bitrate

Test plan

  • CI Build (webOS) green
  • 4K HDR 120 on C5 with Soft recovery ON — confirm delay recovery without restarting the stream
  • Soft recovery OFF — no soft-recovery bitrate cuts
  • Below 4K — soft recovery does not act
  • Overlay hidden — recovery still works

When sustained decode pressure is detected on >=4K streams, request a
temporary host bitrate drop via ABR (no Flush+IDR). Opt-in Soft recovery
setting defaults on for webOS testing. Local branch only.
