TrackMPD v3.0

TrackMPD v.3.0 uses the reference system of the hydrodynamic model instead of the previous system of TrackMPD, which was relative to the water surface. This new reference system avoids an error in the advection calculation which was only significant when applying the model to shallow waters with quick changes in water level (e.g. wave-dominated environments).
Other new features in TrackMPD v3.0 include:

New parameterizations for resuspension as in version 2.3 only a parametrization adapted to wave-dominated environments was included
Water level over the particle's position is now saved in the output file
New beaching calculation to save computational resources and avoid incompatibilities between the domain file and the hydrodynamic model domain.

TrackMPD v2.3

TrackMPD v2.3 introduces significant enhancements, including parallel computation of particle trajectories, greatly reducing computational time. The advection and behavior modules have been optimized for better performance. Additionally, TrackMPD v2.3 incorporates new processes such as deposition, resuspension, and bedload, along with updated parameterizations of settling velocities, offering a more comprehensive and efficient tool for microplastic transport modeling.

TrackMPD v1

TrackMPD v1 includes advection, dispersion, beaching, washing-off, degradation, biofouling, sinking, and deposition. In particular, sinking and deposition depend on particle behaviour, which relies on the particle density, size, shape, fouling state, and degradation state. The model can incorporate new processes and behaviours, and change the implementation of already existing ones, with new experimental findings or particular applications.
