Collaborative VR Billiards Game

Our Virtual Reality group project collaborated to develop a Ubiq-based VR billiards game, utilising Ubiq's built-in social virtual reality environment and meta's in-built character avatar technology for rich interaction.

NOTE that we have tested this game in both the Oculus Quest 2 headset and laptop, and that this game can support multiple devices online at the same time.

Introduction

Our game is designed for multiple players, who can build their own tracks and play pool together via the Ubiq platform. To start, players use the Ubiq panel to join a room and connect with other players on different machines.

Players can then get different pool cues by choosing different avatar characters. We designed a total of three types of pool cues, the coffee-coloured cue can move freely and has a larger hitting point, which is more convenient for hitting the ball; the blue cue can only move horizontally, which is convenient for controlling the direction; and the pink cue has an aiming line added, and you can choose different cues by changing different avatars to use them.

Environment

Unity Editor Version: 6000.0.34f1

Ubiq Version: v1.0.0-pre.11
