This Repo contains all the material concerning the implementation in VHDL of a FIR filter for an FPGA, made in preparation of the exam for Management and Analysis of Physics Datatsets, Module A.

The folder fir_filter_SM contains the final files ready to be used in the computer connected to the FPGA.

The folder fir_filter contains a trial of implementing the same FIR filter using multiple processes (there are two fir_filter files one with 5 processes and one with 3)

The folder simulation contains all files needed for ghdl simulation.

The jupyter notebook contains all python code used for simulation

io_serial.py is the python script used to transmit from and to the FPGA

input_vectors.txt is the input file created by the jupyter notebook

output_vectors.txt is the output file with data coming from the FPGA
