aabb scale and bound box mismatch

I've been training my models without any issues so far but then I wanted to take it a step further and export meshes from the GUI to import in Blender. Then I realized that the outcome of the mesh's bound box doesn't match the aabb scale that I define. As you can see in the image the bound box is [12m,12m,12m] even though I set the scale to 4. Shouldn't it fit into a [4m,4m,4m] cube? Or do I understand the whole concept wrong?
