+# NixOS Foundation in-person Donation
+
+The NixOS Foundation may be represented at in-person events with a donation booth, sometimes offering perks in return. This document describes everything to know about that.
+
+## For donors
+
+### How do I donate to the NixOS Foundation?
+
+1. Find a NixOS Foundation representative at the respective event:
+   - (event name): @(GitHub handle) (portrait)
+2. Let them know the amount in EUR you'd like to donate, and they'll be able to accept a contact-less payment either through a phone or a SumUp device.
+3. You will be offered to get a digital receipt as confirmation, you can check that the address matches the one in the [impressum](./impressum.md).
+
+### Can I donate cash?
+
+We do not accept cash directly, but you may be able to find somebody willing to accept your cash and make the donation for you instead.
+
+### What do I get in return?
+
+Other than a receipt and our gratitude, we sometimes also have a limited number of donation perks that are given out for donations of a certain amount, such as necklaces, pins, key-chains, shirts or others.
+The representative will inform you of that.

+## For representatives
+
+### How to become a representative
+
+You can become a foundation representative yourself if you're a well-known and trusted community member. To nominate yourself:
+- Make a PR against this repo to add yourself to the above list of representatives.
+  Make sure to include a picture so people know who to look for!
+- If approved, a foundation board member will reach out to you for the next steps.
+
+### How to present yourself at events
+
+At your booth, make sure to have the following:
+- A NixOS logo from the branding page: https://nixos.org/branding/
+- A link to this page (best as a QR code)

+- The handles of the representatives at the event
+
+### How to accept donations
+
+1. Open the SumUp App and log in with your account
+2. Go to Checkout and click on the 4-panel icon (aka items) on the top right (restart if you can't see it)
+3. Select the donation items to get to the desired amount, then follow the dialogue to accept the payment
+   - If the payment gets rejected, inform the donor that the country of payment is the Netherlands, their card might be declining it because of that
+4. Ask the if they'd like the digital receipt and follow the steps for that
+5. If the donor is eligible for a perk and there are still ones available, offer them one
+

+### How to onboard somebody as a representative
+
+- Ideally set up a 30min call with the representative to go through the next points
+- Go to https://me.sumup.com/nl-nl/members/invite and create a new "Kassamedewerker" (cashier) account with the representatives email
+- Check if the representative has a phone capable of accepting contact-less payments
+  - Otherwise order a SumUp device for them
+- Go through the representative sections and answer any questions
