This is the kiosk program of the AtteNTCS attendance system, which will allow students to scan their cards to record sign ins and outs.

Initial Configuration Go to <your user directory>\kiosk config\ (create that directory if it doesn't exist) and create two text files there:

connection_string.txt - place the SQL Server connection string there.

location.txt - put an abbreviated name of the kiosk there (e.g. CenSq1). This name will be recorded as the scan location in the database.

Make sure the screensaver, auto monitor off, auto sleep and auto updates are off. Place a shortcut to the kiosk program in the Startup folder, and use netplwiz to make it login to the kiosk user account on Windows automatically (click here for a tutorial). Set the power button to shutdown in Control Panel Power Settings so that you can easily turn off the kiosk, and detach the keyboard and mouse from the computer to prevent students from exiting out of the kiosk program. To exit out of the kiosk program once it is open, press Alt+F4.
