Open Ecological Technology is a multidisciplinary field of design practice and philosophy curated by Melanie Allen (goldfishlaser) in response to today's social and environmental ecological challenges.
Strengthening the commons of technology that promotes healthy ecosystems and liberated beings, with a focus on low-cost, locally-sourced, decentrally-manufactured solutions.
- We have all the materials we need to ensure no one goes without - scarcity is a distribution problem
- We have all the knowledge we need to make the world better - we should build openness into systems
- It is possible to provide everything a community needs within the community, and everything a community wants through cooperation - however, it involves a fundamental change in how we do things
- We have the right to completely own our tools
- We have the responsibilty to not exploit others
- We have reached a point where we have many catastrophes ongoing and can expect additional catastrophes. Everyone is encouraged to participate to face them head-on according to their resources and abilities; since some we may avert, others we will need to ameliorate the damage as much as possible
