Aligned with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), our mandate focuses on strengthening the pillars of the Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) ecosystem. We prioritize the development of ethical AI frameworks, data sovereignty, and interoperable government systems that ensure no citizen; particularly the most vulnerable, is left behind. Our core programming is governed by a commitment to evidence-based policy and institutional capacity building. We function as a collaborative platform bridging the gap between citizens, civil society, researchers, and public institutions. At OpenGov Africa, we leverage open data and emerging technologies with a focus on ethical AI and digital rights to foster transparency, verify service delivery, and empower informed participation in governance across the continent.

OpenGov Africa is community-driven. We believe that solving Africa’s governance challenges requires a multi-stakeholder approach. Developers,policy researchers, NGO representatives, concerned citizens, are welcome to contribute.
