Here's a quick guide to who to ask if you want help with a specific marketing activity.

**Product marketer (PMM) and product manager (PM) assignments**

We generally only have product marketers on teams that _already_ have a product manager. Products without a product manager a) are usually too early for marketing to get involved, and b) distract engineers as they need to spend time briefing the product marketer, vs. shipping more stuff. [Product managers](/handbook/product/product-manager-role) help teams figure out what to build and how much to charge for it, product marketers then help you get as many users as possible.

**Not a product team at PostHog, but we think it's worth specific marketing focus

Even if a product already has a product manager, a team is only ready for a product marketer when a proper launch needs preparing for, usually beta or GA. Before that, product teams are responsible for launching their own products, but can ask for help with ad hoc things - see below. It is also fine for a product to have a product manager but not product marketer - we generally focus on heavily investing in 2-3 product areas at a time, so we can do a good job at a handful of things, instead of an average job at many.

Product marketing is part of <SmallTeam slug="marketing" />. You can see which PMM is focused on which team on the <SmallTeam slug="marketing" /> team page. If it's a team which doesn't currently have an assigned marketer, just ask in #group-marketing-and-content in Slack and tag the team lead.

We probably are already, but if you have something specific in mind, speak to <TeamMember name="Brian Young" />, who is a Growth Marketing Manager embedded in the sales team.
