Hey @hgy59, I submitted this but then saw you had already done some work on this in #5829. Should I continue or should I cancel this since you will be merging your work soon?

#5829 should definitifly be merged before any other update. AFAICR we need the intermediate versions (at least for rabbitmq).

It needs the intermediate versions for working updates.
related to https://www.rabbitmq.com/docs/which-erlang

for current rabbitmq 3.10.24 the max supported erlang is 25.3.x, so we must provide and erlang 25.3.x first.
then we can update rabbitmq to 3.12.13 that still supports erlang 25
then we can update erlang to 26.2.x (the max version supported by rabbitmq 3.12.13)
then we can update to rabbitmq 4.x and so on...

This are only the erlang dependencies. There might be manual db migration required for rabbitmq updates, ...

There was never a request for update of rabbitmq/erlang/ejabberd, so this work was never done.
And I will not have available resources in the next few months...

The rabbitmq update strategies are documented at https://www.rabbitmq.com/docs/upgrade
