Compatibility

Covers Codex 0.147.0 → 0.148.0. Existing portable Agent Plugin/catalog manifests remain compatible. Direct CLI validation remains 0.146.0 while changelog-reviewed support advances to 0.148.0. The shared hooks/hooks.json is deliberately left unchanged because adding Codex-specific async/MCP hook fields there could change Claude Code behavior.

Improvements

  • Advance .codex-version to 0.148.0.
  • Update the Codex install guide for 0.148's asynchronous command hooks and MCP-tool hook actions, including the cross-target safety decision.
  • Advance the canonical Codex latest_known metadata to 0.148.0 while preserving the separately recorded direct-validation version.
  • Refresh the README Codex support badge to expose the newly reviewed release.

Future opportunities

  • Split host-specific hook declarations if async command hooks or MCP-tool hook actions can replace blocking shell hooks without weakening the shared safety guards.
  • Evaluate codex exec fork as a native replacement for manual context duplication in cross-platform handoff workflows.
