Forwards PR #386 (resolving issue #372) and PR #387 (partially resolving issue #384) to main. However, this only forwards the commits from the release/1.0 branch. It needed to forwarded the commits from release/2.0 that merged in the forwarding PR #388. So this PR does not yet close issues #372 or #384. To close issue #372, a forwarding PR is needing from release/2.0 to main that brings in the changes resolving issue #372.
