ISSUE: Original Subtitles getting auto-translated when not wanted

Description

Subtitles are getting set to "auto-translate" for no understandable reason.

The video i'm watching is in english, has english original subtitles, i have the youtube no translation subtitles set to "original" and with auto-generated subtitle "ASR" enabled if there's no original subtitles. It should be using the english subtitles but instead it uses the "auto-translate" by taking the english subtitles and translating them to french.

I think the "original" setting is getting bypassed and tries to put the language of my browser instead of using the videos original language and thus original subtitles.

Steps to Reproduce (if you noticed a specific pattern)

I keeps happening to me on any video that has multiple subtitles choices and when the video is set to have any language other than the one your browser is set to.

Environment

• Browser: been happening since i got to Firefox 150 and still happening in 151
• Extension Version: 2.24.0
• OS: Windows11 (AtlasOS 0.5.0)
• YouTube Language: Have none surprisingly, i'll try adding french and english there maybe this will work better that way. (I didn't even know you could add multiple in there, must be new ?)
• YouTube Account: Logged in

Thiis was because of the subtitle track detection logic. The extension incorrectly identified translated ASR subtitles as original manual tracks because it didn't properly check for the translationLanguage property. This led to the extension believing the correct original language subtitles were already actives, even when they were auto-translated.

I will try to release a new version with the fix today.

Hi, the issue appears to be back again, exact same issue.

French video with french subtitles gets auto translated to english and english videos with english subtiles get auto-translated to french.

The manual fix i have is to uncheck and check back the ASR

This still happens and was never fixed at all for months in my case. Only difference is that I'm in Germany, having switched YT completely to English to prevent all the translating BS in the first place - not doing that doesn't make any difference. Subtitles keep being switched to autogenerated and translated to always the other language (EN to DE and the other way round) completely regardless of the addon's setting. I want it to completely disable any auto-translation, stay on the origina language and have the subtitles disabled initially and thusly only show the OG subtitles when enabling them with C or that button. This is something the addon never was able to do. I've also seen someone rate the addon on Mozilla with the very same issue, but IIRC it was Turkish in their case. All the other translation blocks work just fine, but the subtitles switching to the auto-generated ones no matter what is quite tedious. I hope this can and will get fixed eventually.

I noticed a specific behavior: when I open a direct video link, the page initially loads with YouTube's default settings, then reloads after a second to correctly apply the addon's options.

However, if I navigate from a channel's video list to a specific video, the page doesn't reload. Because of this, only some settings (like volume) are applied, while others (like subtitles and audio tracks) remain at YouTube's defaults.

I believe the root cause of this issue is that navigating internally from a YouTube channel page inherently prevents the addon from fully loading or applying all parameters.

My suggestion: Could the addon be programmed to verify that all settings are properly applied whenever a video loads? If a mismatch is detected, it could force a single reload to ensure everything works correctly.

Note: The "improve you tube" addon seems to have exactly the same problem, so I'm not entirely sure if forcing a reload is the best solution, but it's an idea.
