Summary

  • Raise R-SLOP-38 threshold from 26+ to 28+ characters to eliminate FPs on legitimate 26-27 char domain identifiers (e.g., distanceToCurrentWorkspace, showWidowsBeforeActivation)
  • Add Adjustment suffix to guard pattern to exempt GTK Adjustment variable names (e.g., wsThumbnailAppScaleAdjustment)
  • Update test fixture with longer Function-suffix test and new Adjustment-suffix test
  • Mark 4 stale R-SLOP-38 FP annotations as resolved (appindicator, blur-my-shell, dash-to-panel, v-shell)

Closes #137

Test plan

  • All 744 test assertions pass
  • slop-long-id-guard@test produces exactly 1 R-SLOP-38 warning (guarded cases suppressed)
  • slop-long-params@test still warns on currentBatteryThresholdValue (28 chars)
  • Field test: bash scripts/field-test-runner.sh --no-fetch --extension v-shell confirms 0 R-SLOP-38 hits

fix(ego-lint): expand R-SLOP-38 guard for domain-specific identifiers

Raise threshold from 26+ to 28+ characters and add Adjustment suffix
to the guard pattern. Eliminates 8 borderline findings in v-shell
(hand-written GTK Adjustment names and compound identifiers at 26 chars).

- Pattern: {25,} → {27,} (28+ total chars)
- Guard: added Adjustment to suffix group
- Fixture: lengthened Function-suffix test, added Adjustment test
- Annotations: mark 4 stale R-SLOP-38 FPs as resolved

fix(ego-lint): correct misleading Handler guard comment in test fixture

The comment claimed the line was suppressed by the Handler suffix guard,
but the actual reason is that the parameter `data` (4 chars) is below
the 28-char threshold.

Review findings addressed

1. Cross-contamination removed (HIGH)

Rebased fix/r-slop-38-identifier-fps onto main using git rebase --onto main fix/init-shell-modification-scope, removing the PR #140 commit (9ef223f) that was accidentally included. The branch now contains only R-SLOP-38 changes — no check-init.py or init-helper-in-extension@test files in the diff.

2. Misleading test comment fixed (MEDIUM)

Updated the comment on this._runPanelAnimationHandler(data) in tests/fixtures/slop-long-id-guard@test/extension.js:

  • Before: // Guarded: handler suffix — should NOT trigger
  • After: // Below threshold: parameter 'data' is 4 chars — should NOT trigger

The Handler suffix guard applies to the callee method name, not the parameter. The actual reason the line doesn't trigger R-SLOP-38 is that data (4 chars) is far below the 28-char threshold.

Status

  • All tests pass (744 assertions)
  • Branch needs a force push to update the remote (will be done separately)
