Miscellaneous DD fixes in 7.3

[saintstack]

Adds logging around stuck waitMetrics call on DD startup. Catches a signal we sometimes miss when connection is broken. Adds logging on what shards we are having trouble get results from on initial waitMetrics, etc.

To build, I started with cmk and then had to do this config:

cmake -DWITH_AWS_BACKUP=OFF -DCMAKE_CXX_FLAGS=" -Wno-error=missing-template-keyword -Wno-error=stringop-overread -Wno-error=stringop-overflow -Wno-error=free-nonheap-object -D_LIBCPP_ENABLE_CXX17_REMOVED_UNARY_BINARY_FUNCTION" .

I had to disable distcc so build too forever.

• The PR description mentions needing to disable AWS backup and add multiple -Wno-error suppressions. Are these flags acceptable, or do they indicate a deeper compatibility issue with the backport?

• What's the root cause of the current CI failures? The logs show exit status 1 during ninja builds on CentOS 7, RHEL 9, and macOS. Are these related to the compiler warnings you had to suppress locally?

Its what I did to compile 7.3. Not related to my changes. Seeing if others have input.

CI doesn't have the -Wno-* flags so fails compile because warnings are errors.

Why did you need to disable distcc?

Internal. Couldn't compile. Distcc cache seemed to be given me wrong compiles.
