@rmondello, thank you! May I ask if the extension "iCloud passwords" is also yours, or maybe you know someone from their team? "Comet" stable has been added in this repo 2 months ago, yet we still get "old os or unsupported browser" error after extension installation. So I wonder if there is an additional step we need to do for support, or just wait for the next release?

I can confirm that Comet is not included in macOS 26, but will be included in an update post the first official release of macOS 26.

hey, is it also possible to include windows as a supported platform, or it'll just work whenever the update gets pushed?

@rmondello, thank you for maOS 26 explanation. And what about 15.6.1? Do we need to also wait for the next update there (15.6.2 I guess), or it will not work until 26 at all? Because we hit the issue in 15.6.1 even though things were okay in 15.3.

Also joining the Windows question. We do support Windows as platform, if it's helpful for me to open a PR, I'll be more than happy to do it.

There are two different considerations here:

  1. The open source data, available for all to use.
  2. The way that Apple uses it, outlined in the project README: https://github.com/apple/password-manager-resources/?tab=readme-ov-file#how-apple-uses-web-browser-extension-distribution-information

For (1), the project will happily accept information about browser availability on Windows!

For (2), Apple currently isn’t making use of any information about web browsers on Windows for anything related to the iCloud Passwords extension.

I hope this helps! (I’m happy to keep discussing until things are clear to everyone!)

@tonyganch Aligned with the update to macOS 26 will be a software update for macOS 15 to deliver the same functionality. :)

continuing the windows topic, the extension just randomly started working today, not sure what exactly changed, but it works now
thanks anyways :D

Hi @rmondello, may I please bump this issue? 26.0.1 is out, and still no support for Comet. Is it possible to get at least approximate ETA? Thank you.

@tonyganch 26.1 beta, not 26.0.1.
