This allows for initializing threads and other resources that should be set up after main runs. Initialization for static memory can continue to use constructor functions.
This prevents handlers from being called twice if sdk is accidentally initialized twice.

This makes the IPC client use a separate thread for receiving messages.
The separate thread is necessary for adding subscription support (in a following PR).
