Remove your formatting changes as it makes the PR unreviewable for the new changes.
A formatter will be added and the formatting standardized in a separate commit, but for now it's too hard to review properly.

I formatted it with vscode-lua-format tool using the
.lua_formatfile provided. It seems to have made some pretty annoying formatting changes so sorry for that. If an updated format config is released, I will use that instead.
