- Download both Ubuntu & Virtualbox
- Download the appropriate version of http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop Ubuntu for your machine.
- Next download https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads Virtualbox for OSX.
- Double click on the make package icon to run the installer. You don’t need to drag the icon to the Applications folder like other Mac apps.

- Once its completed the install just close the Installer and launch virtual box from within the applications folder in Finder.
- Virtualbox Create New Virtual Machine for Ubuntu
- After you have launched Virtualbox, click on New
- Give your new virtual machine a name like Ubuntu
- Select Linux and Ubuntu from the drop downs
- Virtualbox Set Memory
- Set base memory to at least 1Gb.
- Don’t worry you can adjust this later.

- Virtualbox Virtual Hard Disk
- If this is your first time installing Ubuntu create a new hard disk
- Choose VDI (Virtualbox Disk Image)
- We suggest starting with at least 25 gigs since you need plenty of space for your ant videos.
- Always choose dynamically expanding, it kids your virtual Ubuntu that its got a bigger disk than it really has.
- You can alter where to save your virtual disk – or just accept the defaults for now
- Just for precautions – you have to confirm again what you are doing
- Virtualbox Virtual Machine is Ready
- Finally – confirm all your settings and you’re finished setting up your Virtualbox Virtual Machine and ready to install Ubuntu (almost)

- To install Ubuntu in the Virtualbox virtual machine we have to tell Virtualbox where the installer for
- Ubuntu is saved on your computer
- Start by pressing the Settings button
- Click on Storage
- Under IDE Controller choose the option to Add a CD/DVD device

- Navigate to and find the Ubuntu Installer .ISO file you downloaded (a .ISO file is a disc image kind of like a DMG file that is used on Mac)

- Click OK to save your changes

Install Ubuntu in Virtualbox
- Double click on the Ubuntu virtual machine to power on.

- You should see a message telling you about how that session is going to capture your mouse movements and keyboard strokes.

- What this is telling you is that when you click in the virtual machine window, all of your keystrokes and mouse clicks are going to be directed to the virtual machine, not your Mac. To control your Mac again, you just need to press the Command key to the left of your space bar.
- Select Install Ubuntu
- Select download updates while installing.
- Select erase disk and install Ubuntu
- Select your VBOX HARDDISK
- Choose your language and locale settings
- Enter some basic information about yourself
