Hanover has a huge amount of TP-Links TL-WR841 in various revisions.
Though we make sure, they are not becoming more - anymore;
dumping them all has been considered a huge waste of resources.

@CodeFetch has put significant effort in providing detailed information on sparing them as long as possible, with a reasonable amount of effort.

His effort has been recognized by us providing firmware which marks them as TL-WR841N/ND Mod which in turn improves hanovers statistics by 1695€.

There are use-cases for single-band devices. From an economical and ecological perspective e.g. in this refugee camp where fiber optic connections exist simple low-power single-band devices are the best fit. There is no need for high CPU power and the aggregated throughput with the dynamic power control of the ath9k chips is way more than will be available in the life-time of these devices:

@blocktrron Such installations prove your theory as not considering all aspects of reality. You neither consider the life-time nor the actually available bandwidth demands, nor the energy usage of MIPS-based single-band devices and your spectrum considerations about single-band devices do not ground on numbers. We don't see much airtime issues in the 2.4 GHz band in most areas. Only very dense urban areas are affected which do not account for the majority of the Freifunk communities'. If you want your numbers to be meaningful in an economic or ecological scientifically sustainable way you need to account for that.

His views are his own and mine are mine.

However in hanover, we try to operate sustainably with existing equipment.
Though that goal is an utter annoyance most of the time, I'd still like the statistic to show the effort some of us put into this.

@blocktrron Würdest du den hier mergen oder schließen, wenn du die vorgeschlagene Ansicht nicht teilst?
Ich würde das gerne erledigt wissen.
