This repository is the planning and experiment notebook for iCybie work. It is intentionally focused on:
- documentation and reference preservation
- hardware experiments and commissioning notes
- theory, reverse-engineering context, and development logs
Buildable source code and toolchains live in sibling repositories under the same top-level icybie parent folder.
../sdk- iCybie SDK, runtime/library sources, sample programs, and Linux workflow docs. Branch separation:main(current/Linux-first) andwindows-legacy(older Windows-oriented flow).../himage- rebuild tooling for i-Cybie HIMAGE ROM images. Branch separation:main(current) andwindows-legacy(older Windows path).../icburn- Linux cartridge flash writer for Super iCybie hardware. Branch separation:main(current Linux implementation) andwindows-legacy(older Windows path).../icaud- CLI utility for merging custom sounds into personalities. Branch separation:main(active branch).../yict- personality creator (Windows-focused). Branch separation:mainandwindows-legacy(legacy branch retained).../TLCS900L- TLCS-900 CPU tools and documentation (iCybie TMP91C815F context). Branch separation:main(active branch).../binutils-tlcs900- TLCS-900-oriented GNU/binutils source tree. Branch separation:tlcs900_port(active port branch).
An upgrade path to of increased utility via connectivity and development.
There are several methods to get started, but the most elightening is the removal of the outer shells to get a look how the robot is constructed.
Originally followed this source. The layout is demonstrated as:
RS-232
Using the MAX233 and the USB-Serial convertor. Details regarding its use will be best-utilized on a Windows machine.
Where the power connection is only needed if using the MAX233.
FTDI
Using the FT232RL and direct connectivity to the installed serial port these drivers are needed. Details regarding its use on RaspberryPi will be discussed.
Where the connection between Tx and Rx on the CMOS-level system and the iCybie is:
The iCybie motherboard is exhibited as a property of location of element on each side:
Where the connection between a serial port terminal and the iCybie is through a serial port on-board:
- These are listed here.
- The cartridges.
