Digital Campaigning Dashboard for Labour Activists
The goal for Dashboard for Labour (D4L) is to serve as an effective resource for individuals to campaign online with a set of trusted resources and also to amplify their collective voice through Tweet Storm-style 'Thunderclaps' [1].
We aim to achieve this goal by presenting a series of Issues grouped together by topics at both the national and local level. These issues will include a timeline of source articles/video links and a series of response articles/video/social links. These links are intended to serve as information that an be used to debunk lies, support arguments. Alongside these we need as many image resources as possible to help normal people share positive messages on social media.
All of this is meant to be getting updated in real-time by a bunch of volunteers, so we need you all to chip in!
We can use people with Node.js skills, front end web skills (particularly experience with setting up PWAs).
Please see our Getting Started Guide on how to get up and running.
We have developed many of the core features needed for the app already including fully functional 'Thunderclaps'. We're trying to create some 'good first job' issues to make it as easy as possible for new contributors.
We need a trusted team of people to provide useful content to push through into the dashboard in as close to real-time as possible. The value in the dashboard will be in providing high quality content as shit goes down.
Please see our Content & Design Guide on how to get contributing.
We created D4L in May 2017 as a Coders for Labour project. Labour Digital contacted us in June 2017 and we forked into a simplified app called Amplify.
We have now back-ported the code into the C4L repos and are building on the features. Our goal is to get the app up and running as quickly as possible during w/c 4th November.
ButtressJS is a fork of Rhizome and my business (Lighten) has pushed this development forward a lot since 2017. D4L has now been upgraded to work with the latest version of Buttress.
