Summary

Motivation
Integer overflow fixed in all the maintained 3.x branches, plus a few additional small fixes inside the 3.4 branch.
Details
Had a look at the diffs and did see nothing that made me curious in the changes. However due to the larger changes I realized how much code there is to optionally internalize some dependencies like libdeflate & openjph. We consume them from our packages anyway. I'll provide a separate PR to force required instead of silent require with automatic fallback to internalize those. Checked for all versions that it isn't a problem.
